Swedish truck maker Volvo AB said on Wednesday that it had delivered about 18,497 trucks in the month of April, down from 4 percent from April 2011. The deliveries for Europe had declined 22 percent to about 6,776 vehicles. The deliveries had declined 27 percent in Western Europe & fell 2 percent for the Eastern Europe. The deliveries for North America were increased 39 percent to about 4,712 automobiles for the month of April.
For Latin America, the deliveries had declined 30 percent to 1,630. For Asia, this group had delivered about 4,066 units, up 9 percent. The deliveries of the trucks by Volvo brand in the month of April decreased by 11 percent to about 8,448. Above 19,000 people had attended the Truck World in last month and this made it “best show till now,” say the organizers of the show.
Joe Glionna, who is director of the Truck Group of Newcom Business Media’s, said that the strong attendance which had come on heels of record-breaking turn out for Fleet Managers’ break fast which preceded this show. This show was attended about 19,256 had attended this show and they were a bit less as compared to the overall attendance of the Truck World Show of 2010. The organizers also said that the biggest drop was seen on Saturday.

Last fall, food community at Atlanta had won a very important battle in struggle for making more business friendly environment in the city for the food trucks & mobile vendors. The Kwanza Hall Ordinance of Food Truck, passed along with 15-0 vote in last September, relaxed significantly some key regulations of vending which were previously made successful operation of food truck at Atlanta almost impossible.
But, 8 months later, we are now seeing that putting of the new policies in to practice still has got its own share of the road blocks.

Preliminary North American net orders for the medium- & the heavy-duty trucks got down in the month of April, according to a survey.
Analyst had reported that there were around 17,200 orders of Class 8 & 8,600 medium-duty orders for truck placed in the month of April.
Kenny Vieth, the president & senior analyst says that the orders continued coming in below level that was ultimately needed for sustaining the current build rates. The conditions which contributed to this soft patch which started in the month March were in the play in the month of April, including the higher prices of diesel & new truck. Right now, it is pretty vacant, but the motorists of Interstate 80 close Fairfield will soon get to see the crews clearing the brush & preparing this site for new $100 million complex of truck.
Caltrans & some other agencies on Friday had broken ground on I-80 east bound Cordelia scales of truck relocation project at Fairfield. Once this work starts, the construction on facility will proceed fairly quickly, says Vince Jacala, who is spokesman for Caltrans District 4.
Jacala says that it will be going up really fast adding the Caltrans estimates that work will get completed in around one year.

Ford said that new plant @ Hangzhou @ province of Zhejiang will initially boost annual capacity of U.S. automaker at China by around 250,000 automobiles when the production starts in the year 2015. The construction will start later in 2012.
Announcement had come about 2 weeks after Ford had said that they would be investing about $600 million for building 3rd plant at the Chongqing complex at south west of China & it is part of fastest and largest expansion by company since 1960s @ Europe and North America. DAI or Daimler AG will start making trucks at new factory at southern India starting in 3rd quarter as German company is looking to compete with Tata Motors Ltd. in this growing market.
Maker of Mercedes-Benz automobiles will bring in 17 new models ranging from 6 tons to forty nine tons by the year 2014, says Daimler statements which were released at Chennai recently. This factory will have capacity for making about 36,000 trucks in one year & raising it at 72,000 units, according to this company.
Daimler, is currently spending about 44 billion rupees (or $853 million) in this country and has plans of having around 70 locations of dealer by end of the year for winning customers as this country is building more of roads for boosting trade. Sales of medium & heavy truck increased by four percent in the month of March over same period one year ago & up by 28 percent for first quarter, say the figures which are compiled from Wards Communications.
The dealers had sold about 43,813 trucks along with ratings of GVW above 10,000 pounds in this month up from 2011 March (42,188). For this quarter, total was about 133,311, from about 103,962 for 2011.
As compared to March 2011, the Class 8 automobiles were up by 19 percent (about 15,418, as compared to the 13,010). The Class three and five were only other classes which showed any gain.
For this quarter, the Class 8 had showed largest jump for more than one year ago (47 percent, about 46,845 as compared to about 31,958). Class five sales increased by 30 percent, Class seven 14 [...]
